Multi Screen Image

For this idea, I came up with it before going back home for Easter holidays which was about iPhone and social media addiction but as I'm not very skilled compared to other people with Adobe After Effects although I wish I was because I have a big love for animation which I wrote about in my essay.

For this project, I wanted to portray that we were tangled, stuck and connecting to technology as a form separately from social networking. I also wanted to be an element of experimental film exploration into this one minute short as I felt digital animation vs traditional animation would create the sense like we are overly connected to technology because it has grown and improved so much over time. I created this by making a simple stop motion animation on my phone which was roughly over 200 pictures as I also wanted to capture how much we use technology even without thinking about it.

With the correlation of my essay, I learnt that moving image can be anything in terms of curating and the philosophy of how we view moving images. I researched Cybernetic Serendipity about how artists create their work using the advantages of technology, whilst also showing the negative effects on art and moving image. This exhibition was made to show artists were inspired as well as influenced by technology during that time with scientific research findings as well as the involvements in the art. I was also hugely inspired by traditional animation methods, as well as Studio Ghilbi although due to my lack of still not feeling confident with adobe after effects I used the simpleness mixed with my traditional animation to create a reaction and make people feel like they were also somewhat tangled with the technology that they use.

I edited the stop motion on Adobe Premiere Pro, but had struggle exporting my final multiscreen as a video file due to not having the plug in, but I managed to find a way by going to the library computers and the editing sessions. From the Adobe Sessions, I learnt the basics but as my confidence isn't high with rigging animation and the complexness in After Effects I did get very stressed out whilst making it with my lack of confidence although I felt confident about the meaning and the initial idea.

I wanted to make my traditional animation link and connect with the animation on the side which represents cables which we are stimulated and connected with without even thinking about it sub consciously. However, in the next year I want to try and improve on my after effects skills because when I went to the library to export it I was inspired by Fash's vapour wave film and I realised I could've added a vapour wave element as Fash told me it was pretty easy, just my lack of confidence made me feel like my work wasn't good enough as it's extremely simple which a big concept about how we are too connected with our own technology.

Since my essay was about animation, I was extremely inspired by the research I did on Studio Ghilbi and Ardman Animation Studios and the creators of Don't Hug Me I'm Scared but as I'm not as experienced within that field, I wanted to explore my concept of how I view technology in the simplest matter because too much chaos with no meaning would stress me out.
